Hi 4all,

I've noticed recently that either Lachlan has changed the meaning of  
the word use-case[1], or he always had a strange idea of what it was.  
I know there are other examples where he's reusing the word use-case  
to, I think, mean an example of use. Recently on IRC, he  says

# [07:40] <Lachy> it's interesting how the entire list of use cases  
given in the wiki, doesn't actually include any use cases. Just a  
list of different disabilities that might benefit from it


Wikipedia define use-case[2] as:
A use case is a technique used in software and systems engineering to  
capture the functional requirements of a system. Use cases describe  
the interaction between a primary actor—the initiator of the  
interaction—and the system itself, represented as a sequence of  
simple steps. Actors are something or someone which exist outside the  
system under study, and who (or which) take part in a sequence of  
activities in a dialogue with the system, to achieve some goal: they  
may be end users, other systems, or hardware devices. Each use case  
is a complete series of events, from the point of view of the actor.[1]

Also on IRC, Hixie is cooking up some more damn-lies, er, I mean  
statistics to show that we shouldn't have a longdesc attribute. But  
don't worry, we don't just use statistics[3].
