Hi Josh,

I wasn't too worried about browser compatibility. I just thought  
these designs looked like they might have been produced in a vector  
graphics application. In that case it's nice to preserve that vector  
graphic information by using SVG. Wikimedia then handles the  
conversion to bitmap graphics so that older browsers can view the  
image (since SVG is a fairly new addition to most browsers and IE has  
no built-in support for it).
