[html4all] Using the wiki

aloha, rob!

i noticed some freakish mediawiki behavior -- it wouldn't let
me enter markup into a wikified header (an expansion for a.k.a.),
but it did recognize and respect the <cite> element when i used
it for the attributions for my mantras on my User:Oedipus page...

i guess it'll be a crapshoot for a while, until we gather altogether,
from individual experimentation, what markup is natively supported by
mediawiki (i did not have to encase the CITE element in an HTML
container, as i do tending pages at the linux foundation's site for
the accessibility workging group), so perhaps a catch-all page devoted
to what markup works and what doesn't -- as well as helpful tips, such
as that rob shared about using title to provide alternative text for
an image... as rob pointed out, external help resources that are,
themselves wikis can contain erroneous information...

so, should there be a supported markup page, where we can document
what works, what doesn't and how to get the wiki do what you
need/want it to do? or does such a resource already exist? i guess
this would fall under the "internal assistance" category? the
administrivia category? the [your suggested category here]

gregory.
