And as Gez noted, Ruby exists in HTMl spec land already (and in some  
browsers. Itisn't hard to implement most of it in CSS for opera, although  
there are some undefined things in the current spec about what happens if  
content isn't valid. Anne vK has noted this, and may be interested in  
trying to sort those things out for HTML 5). I would certainly oppose  
using some different mechanism without seeing a good reason to do so.
